Founded by James Cadbury, the great-great-great grandson of John Cadbury, the founder of Cadbury chocolate, James created Love Cocoa with a clear aim: to make great tasting chocolate in Great Britain whilst retaining the ethical principles upon which the original Cadbury’s was founded... It was in 1824 that John Cadbury set up a tea dealer and coffee roaster in Birmingham. One of the luxury items they sold was drinking chocolate. His sons, Richard & George, took over the business in 1860 and made a big breakthrough in 1866 when buying a machine from the Netherlands, that would refine the cocoa to an essence. Sharing his ancestors’ ambition to create something “absolutely pure, therefore the best” Cadbury makes artisanal chocolate bars using the finest South American cacao.
One Bar, One Tree – Love Cocoa Plants A Tree For Every Product Sold
In 2020 they have planted in excess of 500k trees in Cameroon. The inspiration for this comes from George Cadbury and his love for sustainability and the environment. James is planning on planting lots more trees and becoming certified carbon neutral.
